CHAPTER 6: CELL DIVISION

LESSON PLAN USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM, YOUTUBE AND QUIZIZZ.

PRE-LESSON QUESTION

A RECAP OF WHAT YOU’VE LEARNT…
Answer the questions below before we move on to the next lesson.

1. What are cells?
2. How do cells carry out life functions?
3. How are cells organized into working groups?
4. Why does a cell needs to divide?

LESSON 1

CHAPTER 6 : CELL DIVISION
6.1. CELL DIVISION
6.2. CELL CYCLE AND MITOSIS.

First you’ve to go through your textbook – read through page 100 to 107.
Then, you’ll have to go through the video and learn. Do not forget to make notes too.

DRAWING ACTIVITY

In this activity, students will learn on how to draw the 4 stages in Mitosis

You can refer to the video below on how to draw the phases in Mitosis

2. Once you’re done, take a picture and upload it Google Classroom.

LESSON 2

CHAPTER 6 : CELL DIVISION
6.3. MEIOSIS

PBD MEIOSIS ACTIVITY (TIKTOK Inspired)

Learning Objectives:
Create a model and a transition video of meiosis cell division.

  1. Each of you will be divided into group of 8.
  2. You will create a model of each phase (Prophase I – Telophase II) . One student one phase.
  3. It has to be synchronized.
  4. Create a 1 minute transition video of each phase using the model created.  (in the video, you should be seen holding the phase you created – zoom in to take clear video of the model)
  5. You must also include the description for each phase

To create the model,

You need

1. Paper plate – for the cell
2. 2 colours of plasticine – for chromosomes
3. Marker pen – to draw the rest of the structures in the cell (e.g.  nucleus, spindle fibres and centriole)

If you don’t have the materials above, you can also use any other materials to create your model, but it has to be the same materials for the rest of your group.

LESSON 3

6.4. ISSUES OF CELL DIVISION ON HUMAN HEALTH
FOLIO/SCRAPBOOK

WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO?

You’re going to do a scrap book/folio on:
1. The Necessity of Mitosis.
2. The Necessity of Meiosis.
3. The Issues in Cell Division on Human Health.
– MUST INCLUDE CANCER, DOWN SYNDROME and research on other issues too – as many as you can.

For this assignment,
1. You can use whatever materials you have at home, please do not use this as a reason to go out and buy papers or anything else. As simple as using an A4 paper, coloured pen, coloured pencils to more if you have the materials. Your effort will determine your marks.
2. Use the textbook as references and keep it simple – do not go deep into medical terms.
3. Make sure you have a front cover with your name, class, and title of the scrap book.
4. You don’t need an index page.
5. You’ll need a reference page – put in the information of your references – can be from textbook, reference book, the internet – add the URL. It has to be from a reliable source.
